November 13 - Trier, Germany-based Steil Kranarbeiten has taken delivery of a Liebherr LTM 1500-8.1 mobile crane, which features an 84 m telescopic boom and a 500-tonne lifting capacity.
According to Stephan Fleischmann, marketing manager at Steil, the LTM 1500-8.1 features good mobility on the road and onsite. "We ordered the 500-tonne model with the removable telescopic boom option. Thanks to its resulting low axle loads, permits for travelling on roads can be easily obtained," adds Fleischmann.
"The 3.5 m section for the luffing jib was another important criterion for us," explains Fleischmann. "That enables us to achieve excellent lifting capacity values for intermediate lengths."
For its first job, the new Liebherr mobile crane worked with another LTM 1500-8.1 from Steil's fleet to complete a tandem hoist of a 185-tonne gas turbine in Luxembourg.
The new model will replace an existing LTM 1500-8.1 in Steil's fleet, which currently includes over 100 cranes.
