November 2 - Rhoon, Netherlands-based Steder Group has built on is success in moving a giant hammer to the UK in March, 2010 by organising the return of the equipment to The Netherlands.
Steder Group, a member of the Cargo Equipment Expert (CEE) network in The Netherlands, recovered the hammer after its use in establishing piling foundations for a wind farm in the Irish Sea. The giant consisted of a 150 tonne hammer (pictured below) and a 165 tonne sleeve and accessories.
Steder arranged a coaster with a small draft which could load and unload at the required ports.
The coaster arrived just in time to receive the hammer set from the drilling platform, returning from the job, at the port of Mostyn, near Liverpool.
After a three day journey, the cargo was offloaded using a sheerleg crane, arranged by Steder, in Kinderdijk, The Netherlands.
CEE is a global network for cargo equipment owners such as hauliers, crane operators, and barge operators serving the heavy and outsized cargo industry.
