December 5 - Saudi Railways Organisation (SRO) has signed a USD67 million contract with Freight Car America to supply the rail service provider with 500 freight cars.
The wagons will be manufactured according to specifications approved by the Association of American Railroads (AAR) and will each have a 100-tonne capacity for the transportation of cement, cereals, limestone and ballast.
The cars are expected to be delivered over the next 12 months, which could lead to some good business for project cargo forwarders and heavy lift shipping lines.
