January 14 - After years of planning, and months of construction, Specialized Rail Transport's new 20-axle railcar is ready for use.
The 450-tonne capacity railcar has been manufactured by Kasgro in Pennsylvania.
SRT recently handled the shipment of power boilers from a southern California port to Las Vegas. The units arrived in two shipments that were discharged directly from ship to railcars. The weights of the units ranged from 223 to 264 tonnes with an average dimension of 25.3 m long, 2.3 m wide and four metres high.
Both shipments were delivered to the jobsite ahead of schedule.
