December 20 - NYK will launch a new South Pacific Link (SPL) service between the Far East and the South Pacific islands from January, 2014.

The multipurpose vessels, which will be operated by NYK's subsidiary NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers, will make 72-day round voyages at intervals of every 18 days, carrying a variety of cargo.

The first vessel in the SPL service will be South Islander, which will call at Busan on January 12.

The service will call at Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Busan (South Korea), Kobe (Japan), Nagoya (Japan), Yokohama (Japan), Tarawa (Kiribati), Honiara (Solomon Islands), Santo (Vanuatu), Port Vila (Vanuatu), Noumea (New Caledonia), Lautoka (Fiji), Suva (Fiji), Apia (Samoa), Pago Pago (American Samoa), Papeete (French Polynesia), and Nukualofa (Tonga).

The port rotation and number of loops has not been determined yet.
