April 18 - JSC Sea Port of Saint Petersburg (SP of SPb) has handled 1.8 million tonnes of cargo in the first quarter of 2013, a year-on-year fall of 16 percent.
In the January-March 2013 trading period, handling of bulk cargoes increased by 31 percent to 423,000 tonnes - mainly due to increased demand for mineral fertilisers.
However, volumes of general cargo handled at the gateway fell by 24 percent in Q1 2013 to 1.38 million tonnes.
Export cargoes at SP of SPb decreased by 17 percent, accounting for 1.36 million tonnes handled by the gateway. Import cargo flow declined by 12 percent to 440,000 tonnes.
