Sif Holding has signed an agreement to lease a 20 ha port site and a 200 m stretch of deepsea quay at the port of Rotterdam’s Maasvlakte.
The site is adjacent to Sif’s existing facilities at the port, where the company works on the assembly of foundations for offshore wind turbines. From October 2019, Sif will use the new location for marshalling services to support DEME Offshore’s involvement in the Borssele 1+2 offshore wind farm.
For this project, 47 monopiles, 94 transition pieces and 94 anode cages will be shipped to Maasvlakte 2 from Denmark, Germany and the UK where they will be assembled and prepared for installation. Sif will provide SPMTs, gantry cranes, crawler cranes and telescopic cranes for the onsite transportation and marshalling activities.
Looking beyond the Borssele contract, Sif said the port site is well situated to support other offshore wind projects, including wind farms in the French, Belgian, UK and Dutch waters.
