July 8 - Netherland Antilles-based, Shajel NV, is managing the shipment of heavy components from the port of St. Maarten to the New Cole Bay Power Station in the Netherland Antilles.
A member of the Cargo Equipment Experts network, Shajel has handled the transport of two Wärtsilä 12V type 46 engines including base frames and couplings weighing 210 tonnes, two alternators (generators) including base frames weighing 60.2 tonnes, two steam boilers weighing 42 tonnes, two exhaust silencers weighing 10 tonnes, and four radiators weighing 20 tonnes.
In addition, the project involves 600 cu m of breakbulk cargo and 30 containers, including dry vans and open tops.
Steep gradients en route and at the port made this a particicularly difficult task for Shajel.
