MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has enhanced its Med-to-US East Coast service (MedUSEC) with a new port rotation, which is expected to cut transit times for cargo shipped from continental Europe.
Starting in March 2018, MSC's MedUSEC service is expected to reach New York from the transhipment hub of Sines, Portugal in just seven days. The new rotation removes calls at La Spezia, Italy and Boston, USA, and adds a new call at Tangiers, Morocco.
MSC says that improvements to the service will cut as much as four days from the time taken to reach key US East Coast ports, such as Baltimore, Norfolk, Savannah and Charleston.
At the same time, MSC's MEDGULF westbound service will call at Algeciras, Spain; and the eastbound service will call at Miami, USA and Algeciras.
