April 11 - Seaway Heavy Lifting has completed the installation of a 3,300-tonne transformer topside for the WindMW Meerwind project with its crane vessel Oleg Strashnov.
The installation of the transformer topside marks the completion of the Meerwind offshore windfarm, which has a capacity of 288 MW and consists of 80 wind turbines of 3.6 MW each.
Seaway has performed the transport and installation of transition pieces, the transformer topside and the jacket for WindMW. The Meerwind project began for Seaway in September 2011.
Seaway's chief operating officer, Peter de Bree, commented on the topside installation: "This is our first job in the North Sea after having been out of the North Sea for six months. Thanks to the weather and very good preparations by both WindMW and Seaway Heavy Lifting team, we had the topside installed within 24 hours."
