May 30 - HLI Rail & Rigging has shipped a 220-tonne transformer from the Port of Houston, Texas to a substation in Maricopa, Arizona.
The unit was loaded from the vessel onto a heavy-duty trailer and moved to the nearest rail siding. After completing the longest leg of the journey on a heavy-duty rail car, the transformer was transloaded onto a specialised tractor-trailer for on-forwarding to the final jobsite.
A jack and slide system was used to safely move the abnormal unit from the rail car and position it securely on the platform trailer.
Upon arrival at its final destination the transformer was removed from its trailer, once again using a jack and slide system, for final assembly and installation.
