April 11 - Voser Transport, a Swiss based transportation company, moved three rotor blades and other components of an ENERCON E82 wind power plant through wooded terrain using transportation equipment from Scheuerle Fahrzeugfabrik, writes Charlotte Mathes
A self-propelled 6-axle Scheuerle InterCombi SP with a rotor blade adapter was used to handle the 40 m longENERCON E82 rotor blades, each weighing around nine tonnes.
The specially-designed adapter is equipped with 200 holes for accommodating the flange bolts of the blade.
Via remote control, the blade can be raised up to an angle of 23 degrees which was key to negotiating the two km route to the installation site.
The first blade was lifted into position by crane and secured to the vehicle. It was then transported over two days up a slope with a cross gradient of eight percent and two hairpin bends.
Fog, icy ground conditions and a need to fell many of the trees obstructing the path delayed the process, but the operation was a success and the other two blades were subsequently transported to the site along with the remaining components.
