May 13 - The Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) handed out a number of awards at its annual conference that took place in Boca Raton last month.

25 Crane Operator Safety Awards were given to those that demonstrated exemplary work, while accumulating 10,000 consecutive man-hours of work without a single incident or accident.

The list of winners includes:

• AmQuip Crane Rental - Rodney Campbell

• Chellino Crane, Inc. - Mike Meister, Christopher Miller and James Schultz

• Consolidated Crane Co - Marvin Bosworth, Warren Bovey, Manuel Galvan, Melvin Henley, Melvin Mixon, Michael Seale and Dwayne Zatopek

• Custom Service Crane, Inc. - Luke Simmons

• Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental - Preston Freeman, Chad Kimpfbeck, Brian Schroeder and Brett Szyszkiewicz

• Dutcher-Phipps Crane & Rigging Company - Tyrel Dutcher and Raul Sandoval

The SC&RA recognised three drivers in the industry with a Million Miler Award, having racked up seven digits of safe driving. The winners were:

Landstar Transportation Logistics, Inc - Thomas L. Stiles

Riechmann Transport, Inc. - Robert Bohnenstiehl

"Considering the size and nature of the loads traditionally hauled by our members, this is a particularly remarkable achievement," said Steven Todd, SC&RA director of ddvocacy. "We feel it is important they receive recognition because professional heavy haul drivers are a dedicated and motivated group that transport essential cargo that impacts our nation's well being."

  • 100,000 to 1.5 Million Miles - Shelby Mechanical, Inc.

James Lomma, president of J.F. Lomma, Inc. was named the 12th recipient of SC&RA's Golden Achievement Award. This award, last presented in 2011, goes to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the specialised transportation or crane and rigging industry over a consistent and significant period of time.
