November 5 - "K" Line subsidiary SAL Heavy Lift has transported three newbuild ferries from Hiroshima, Japan to Yangon in Myanmar.

The ferries, each of which weighed 270 tonnes, were built at Nakatani Shipbuilding in Edajima, before being loaded onto SAL's vessel Paula, which has a total crane capacity of 700 tonnes.

The ferries are replacing older models, which have been in service in Myanmar for a long time. It is hoped that the new boats will improve the safety of river transportation in Yangon, as well as the quality of the transportation environment.

"K" Line opened a representative office in Yangon in January of this year.
