July 13 - Sai Maritime & Management, the exclusive agent of SAL in India, is claiming a record for the single heaviest item shipped through the port of Mumbai on behalf of the Logistics Division of Larsen & Toubro Hazira.
The two massive HC reactors destined for Eleusius, Greece, weighed 895 tonnes and 1006 tonnes respectively, and were manufactured at Hazira, then transported to Mumbai on two separate barges operated by Lift & Shift India Pvt Ltd.
Both reactors were loaded underdeck on SAL's Anne-Sofie with technical support for this operation provided by SAL's in-house engineering department - Luhe Engineering.
Regular visitors to the HLPFI website may recall that in May, Sai Maritime claimed a record for the heaviest single item handled by Mundra port to date. Sai Maritime worked with Panalpina World Transport India Pvt Ltd.'s specialised business division, Panprojects to move a huge boiler block assembly weighing around 585 tonnes destined for Al Jubail.
