December 21 - Safmarine's Far East - East Africa network has been further upgraded with the introduction of a direct service connecting Tanjung Pelepas and the South Chinese ports of Nansha and Yantian, with Mombasa and Dar Es Salaam.
Meanwhile, the shipping line has upgraded its existing portfolio of products calling West Africa directly from the Far East.
The enhanced FEW 3 Service makes direct calls in Pointe Noire, Tin Can Island and Onne in West Africa and the upgraded Far East rotation includes new direct calls in Fuzhou and Ningbo as well as calls in Nansha, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas.
According to Dirk Geens, Safmarine's East and West Africa trades director, "The enhanced Mashariki Service offers a weekly connection to Mombasa and Dar es Salaam with competitive transit times. For example, cargo from Nansha to Mombasa, Kenya is delivered in just 19 days and to Dar es Salaam,
Tanzania in 26 days.
The line's seven multi purpose services to and from West Africa are geared up to carry conventional breakbulk and project shipments, as well as containerised cargo.
