June 10 - The topic of sulphur emissions regulations in the shipping industry will be widely covered through a number of conference sessions at the RORO 2014 exhibition being held from June 24-26 in London.
A conference session titled Sulphur regulation - fair competition and enforcement will be presented by Roger Stevens, vice president, environment for Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL).
WWL has set up the Trident Alliance initiative - a group of shipping companies pushing for more robust enforcement of the regulations, which Stevens will discuss at RORO 2014. "Increasingly, enforcement, rather than regulation, is the driver of change," he said.
The trends and outlook for the UK short sea market will be the topic of a conference session presented by Peter Baker, managing director of PRB Associates, while managing director of Mann Lines Limited, Bill Binks, will present a session from the perspective of a shipping line, looking at the current ro-ro market.
One of the focuses of Binks' presentation on the Baltic Sea market will be the introduction of the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA) emissions regulations next year.
RORO 2014 is a three-day exhibition and conference providing logistics professionals involved in ro-ro shipping with the opportunity to network and do business.
