September 13 - DB Schenker has bid farewell to RollDock's semi-submersible vessel RollDock Sun, after more than four years of work on the Gorgon LNG project in Western Australia.
In April 2012, DB Schenker's operation in Perth chartered RollDock Sun to assist with the huge project, delivering oversize cargoes to and from Barrow Island. The heaviest cargo transported on board the ship for the project was a 543-tonne propane sphere.
Having completed over 65 voyages for the LNG development, calling at ports in Australia, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, China and the Philippines, the specialised heavy lift ship's work has finally come to an end.
DB Schenker stated that it selected RollDock Sun for the contract due to its ability to handle a wide variety of heavy cargo, with maximum crane capacity of 700 tonnes, as well as ro-ro capability.
RollDock Sun completed over 65 voyages as part of the Gorgon LNG project.
