South Korea-based marine technology firm Mapsea will integrate RightShip’s features relating to safety and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions into its systems.
In a bid to provide both onshore decision-makers and crew onboard vessels with access to real-time safety insights, RightShip’s Safety Score feature is a metric that consolidates data, industry standards, expert reviews, and detailed statistical models into a clear, workable score. This can then be used to allow for informed decisions which centre around safety.
“The Safety Score has already been a vital tool for charterers and operators to assess vessel suitability and prioritise safety,” said Ajinkya Kadam, head of partnerships at RightShip. “By integrating it into Mapsea’s platform, we extend these insights to those on the front lines of maritime operations, providing the intelligence they need to make safer decisions in real time.”
Using the likes of AI and digital twin technologies, Mapsea offers features such route planning with safety intelligence whereby captains of ships can plan and adjust routes using real-time to ensure safer navigation through high-traffic areas and ports. Mapsea also provides risk assessments in real time, meaning that more informed decisions can be made. Additionally, the marine technology firm ensures that safety standards are adhered to whilst preserving operational efficiency.
“By combining our advanced navigation solutions with RightShip’s trusted Safety Score, we are giving maritime professionals a powerful tool to navigate with greater confidence and control,” added Jisoo Kim, ceo at Mapsea. “This partnership is a significant step forward in delivering real-time safety intelligence where it is needed most – on the bridge.”
In December 2024, HLPFI reported that RightShip had revised the timeline for implementing its vessel inspection age trigger.
