May 20 - Rhenus Logistics has set up a new branch in the Moroccan city of Tangier - the first office the company has established in Africa.
Rhenus says that the opening of a branch in Tangier is the first phase of the company's development plan in Africa. The company has so far depended on the services of Spanish shipping company Rhenus Tetrans for logistics services to or from Morocco.
Rhenus now offers a wide range of logistics services in and out of Morocco, with a regular intermodal transportation service to the ports of Tanger-Med, Casablanca, Agadir and Nador. It also offers a fixed ro-ro service, as well as transport services for special and oversized cargo in and out of the country.
"In general Morocco has become a regional leader and Tangier, in particular, has become a corporate hub where many multinational companies have been established for some time, are in the process of establishing or have plans to establish business. Therefore setting up our headquarters in Tangier was logical so we could respond to our customers' demands," said Rhenus' country manager in Morocco, Lluis Folch.
