November 28 - Heavy lift specialist Richard Krabbendam draws attention to a recent crawler crane accident in Vungtau, Vietnam, which left three men dead and two badly injured.
Working with cranes requires certain skills and experience, Krabbendam observed, and they can become "deadly weapons" if not used in the proper way.
"Unfortunately there are still companies, who spend millions of dollars buying or renting a state of the art heavy duty crane but they do not invest in training of personnel or preparation of the job site or work area," he went on.
"Working with cranes requires certain skills and experience," Krabbendam said and to help draw attention to the problems and make the industry safer, he noted: "If you come across an accident, please report it to me and I will post it on my website."
Krabbendam concluded: "Let us work together to make the industry safer."
