January 18 - Terex Ports Solutions has commissioned a Tandem Lift Assistant crane for use at Rendsburg Port, on the Kiel Canal, north Germany.
Two Terex Gottwald Mobile Harbour Cranes will be delivered during 2013: one Model 3 G HMK 3405 crane with a lifting capacity of 100 tonnes, and one Model 8 G HMK 8610 crane capable of lifting 150 tonnes.
The two cranes can be used simultaneously to perform computer-controlled tandem lifts.
The Tandem Lift Assistant will be deployed at the heavy-load terminal of Rendsburg Port and will be responsible for handling project cargo, including particularly large components for wind turbines.
According to Peter Klarmann, managing director of Rendsburg Port Authority: "The Tandem Lift Assistant enables us to perform lifts with loads weighing up to 250 tonnes, which is more than any other crane in this region of Germany.
"Thanks to this capability, our cranes offer customers around the Kiel Canal a unique opportunity, which, of course, ensures us a competitive advantage when it comes to handling large, bulky and very heavy cargoes," Klarmann added.
