June 23 - JB Rawcliffe & Sons from Skelmersdale, UK has transported two 300 tonne castings for Sheffield Forgemasters International.
The mill housings (seen below), 13 m long, 4.7 m wide and 2 m high are destined for Venezuela and were transported from Sheffield to the Port of Goole where they where loaded on a barge and shipped to Duisburg, Germany.
JB Rawcliffe & Sons undertook all the route planning, which included police and local council liaison, street furniture removal and bridging of structures, to successfully transport the castings without incident and on schedule.
20 axle Nicolas trailers, specifically designed spreader mats and two MAN 8x4 ballasted units where utilised for the moves which where conducted during the hours of darkness with complex contra-flows on the local motorway network between Sheffield and the Port of Goole
