RAK Ports is pressing ahead with Saqr 2.0, a greenfield port and freezone in Ras Al-Khaimah, UAE.
“This new port is being developed in phases, allowing RAK Ports to swiftly adapt to evolving market demands with direct connectivity to over 8 million sq m of free zone land within a five-kilometre radius,” said RAK Ports’ chief commercial officer Hugh Cox, speaking at Breakbulk Middle East 2025.
Supported by the existing 31 berths at RAK Maritime City Freezone, Saqr 2.0 will handle project cargo, fabrication, breakbulk, liquid bulk, and agricultural bulk.
The greenfield development will boast a quay wall rated for major project cargo, along with drafts ranging from 12-18 m.
