April 2 - Qargo Packers says it has become the first company at the Port of Rotterdam to operate a Combilift straddle carrier (Combi-SC).
Qargo specialises in the packing, securing and export of large and heavy products weighing up to 40 tonnes, ensuring cargoes are in a seaworthy condition for transport. The Combi-SC has been added to the company's fleet to ease the handling of oversize loads and containers.
The 40-tonne capacity Combi-SC is a manoeuvrable and multi-purpose link between Qargo's internal load packaging area and the external storage yard. It works as a crane, can offload containers off the back of trailers, deposit them in the packing area and reload them when ready for dispatch.
Qargo's Combi-SC has been designed to be 1,700 mm wider and 1,000 mm higher than standard models. Together with a 9 m long attachment with multiple lift points it offers the flexibility to securely move large and awkward loads. The telescopic design ensures the Combi-SC is low enough to enter into the company's warehousing facilities, while enabling it to double stack when outside.
