August 15th - BNSF Logistics has handled the transport of three 154-tonne transformers from the Port of Baltimore to their final job site in Maryland.
The transformers were transported by rail to the nearest rail siding, before being offloaded onto a Goldhofer 15-axle hydraulic platform trailer and transported to the jobsite.
At the jobsite, the transformers were placed on their foundations using the 'jack and slide' method, explained BNSF.
Elsewhere, BNSF's Houston based Global Project Center (GPC) teamed up with Istanbul's Smart Logistics to handle the transport of 2,500 cu m of cement-making machinery from the Germany and Turkey to Canada.
The consignment included one OOG cargo weighing 68 tonnes. Cargo was collected from the Port of Hamburg and the Port of Izmir and delivered to the final site in Exshaw in Alberta via Halifax, Houston and Tacoma.
BNSF Logistics is a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) for the USA, while Smart Logistics is also a member of the network for Turkey.
