The port of Lowestoft has welcomed its first commercial vessel at its Lowestoft Eastern Energy Facility (LEEF).
Work at the port of Lowestoft’s GBP35 million (USD45.7 million) LEEF development continues. It is designed to support the growing offshore energy industry in the southern part of the North Sea.
The Norside Supporter walk-to-work vessel – chartered by ODE Asset Management (ODE AM) – arrived from Aberdeen and berthed at the facility to embark 50 personnel for a two-week offshore campaign which will support key energy assets in the region. This initial vessel call marks the ‘soft start’ to operations at LEEF.
Javier Escandon, LEEF project delivery manager at ABP, said: “As we progress towards full operational capability, our focus remains on ensuring that both new and existing customers benefit from the extensive capabilities of this facility.”
The facility has 350 m of quayside, with 7.5 m draught deepwater berths and 6.5 acres (2.6 ha) of space to support current and future energy projects.
Earlier this month, HLPFI reported that ABP had entered into a strategic agreement with Clarksons Port Services (CPS) at LEEF.
