Both ports are wanting to leverage opportunities by trading experiences and developing joint projects, with an emphasis on cargo mobility, energy and offshore wind.

“We see this partnership as an essential strategic element in our continued growth and development,” said Henrik Carstensen, ceo of the port of Grenaa. “For both our customers and us, we see great potential and strong synergies in strengthening and expanding our collaboration across Kattegat.”

The ports will use combined areas, resources, and expertise to streamline transportation and handling of heavy cargo, such as wind turbine components. It is believed that this will bring about greater cost efficiency.

“We have chosen to prioritise these segments [cargo mobility, energy, and offshore wind] initially because we see great potential to jointly drive growth and strengthen the services offered to our customers,” added Carl-Henrik Hägg, ceo of the ports of Halland. “The port of Grenaa has a strong position in these segments and provides valuable expertise and resources that complement the strengths of ports of Halland’s.”
