July 15 - BBC Chartering's Peter R?nna is discharging Siemens wind energy components at the Duluth Seaway Port Authority's Clure Public Marine Terminal.
Having arrived in the Port of Duluth-Superior from Denmark, the ship was carrying a milestone for both Minnesota Power and the port as it was the 15th shipment of wind energy components to arrive for the company's Bison 4 project in North Dakota.
Stevedores from Lake Superior Warehousing (LSW) offloaded the project cargo, which includes a total of 12 cooling units and 14 generators destined for the Bison Wind Energy Center near New Salem.
Two other shipments of wind energy equipment bound for North Dakota arrived at the port in June, and two more are expected before the end of September.
64 new wind turbines are being installed at Minnesota Power's new Bison 4 project. The first of these new turbine generators was erected and installed earlier this month. Two large crawler cranes are positioned to continue Bison 4 assembly throughout the summer.
