Penta-Ocean Construction has signed a letter of intent with Seatrium‘s subsidiary in Singapore for the construction of a wind foundation installation vessel.
The offshore installation vessel will come equipped with a 5,000-tonne lift capacity, fully-revolving crane. Penta-Ocean said the vessel is essential for the installation of increasingly heavy monopile foundations, as wind turbines continue to increase in weight and dimensions.
Construction of the ship is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025.
In October 2023, Singapore’s PaxOcean delivered a wind turbine installation vessel to Penta–Ocean. The GustoMSC GJ-9800C design has a length of 123 m, width of 45 m and depth of 10 m. It features a Huisman heavy lift crane with a boom length of 130 m and a lifting capacity of 1,600 tonnes, with a main hook height of 143 m above deck.
