November 20 - Project Cargo Network's (PCN) 2017 Annual Summit opened today in Prague in the Czech Republic.
Ahead of two days' of one-to-one meetings, PCN's president and ceo, Rachel Humphrey, thanked a record 189 delegates for their attendance and continued support of the organisation.
While outlining the benefits of membership, Humphrey also stressed that as part of their membership criteria companies are required to deliver annual updates about project moves.
Humphrey also outlined PCN's new staff exchange programme, through which members can give their less experienced staff opportunities to enhance global awareness and widen their knowledge base, by spending time (between two weeks and six months, as suggested by PCN) within the organisations of other PCN members.
Attendees in Prague travelled from as far as Canada (Convoy Logistics Providers), Peru (Translogistics Solution), the Philippines (Nonpareil international) and New Zealand (Freight Direct). In fact, PCN estimated that delegates had travelled a combined distance of more than 2.6 million miles to attend the event.
During the morning presentations, HLPFI's own Paul Lucas gave a review of PCN's new online training initiative - a six-module course for industry professionals, encompassing the physics and principles of project forwarding. Having undertaken all six modules of the course, over a period of two months, Lucas urged PCN members to take part, saying it provided excellent value for money, and adding: "My understanding of the world of heavy transport is much improved."
Ahead of what PCN estimates will be 2,233 one-to-one meetings, over the two days of the event, PCN's annual awards were handed out:
Convoy Logistics - International Member of the Year,
First Global - Regional Award for Middle East & Africa,
Europe Cargo - Regional Award for Europe,

PCN's next annual summit is set to take place in Costa Rica on 18 - 20 November 2018.
