October 12 - Keen professionals in the project cargo and shipping industry are soon to don Lyrca and running shoe to work up a sweat, all in a good cause, as they race to the finishing line in the sixth Break-Bulk Business Run.
Industry veteran Buddy Schurig of Texas Terminals will fire the starting shot to kick off the run, which takes place in New Orleans, USA on October 25, 2011. All entry fees will be donated to the Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG) Maritime Scholarship Fund.
The race, which starts at 08.00, over either a 5 km or 10 km route, is an "international event which combines networking opportunities with sport for professionals in the transportation and maritime industries with charitable giving," says organisers.
"This event combines networking and sport in an exciting environment," said Anders Flensborg, managing director of Flensborg International. The native Dane, based in Munich, Germany is one of the initiators of the event which takes place a few times each year at different locations worldwide.
"The run is not a race", says Flensborg. "Everyone can participate by running or walking at an enjoyable pace."
The entry fee is an affordable USD35. Participants will receive a running shirt to wear during the event and keep as a souvenir. They will also have access to a professional running coach during the event.
