September 14 - Geodis' industrial projects division has worked together with AAL to deliver a large electrostatic precipitator module to Nyrstar's smelting facility in Port Pirie, South Australia.
The 530-tonne module, which measured 41 m long by 21 m high, was shipped on board AAL's vessel AAL Dampier from the Port of Nantong in China.
According to AAL, it is the largest component shipped so far for Port Pirie's ongoing redevelopment project, which will see the aged smelter converted into a modern multi-metals processing and recovery facility.
"Our engineers spent weeks poring over lift, stowage and discharge plans to ensure safe and timely delivery," said Marc Willim, general manager of AAL's tramp and projects division.
