Samskip subsidiary Nor Lines will include calls at Rotterdam for the first time in its weekly multipurpose liner service connecting to Western, Mid and Northern Norway, with effect from the start of June.
The service is provided by Nor Lines' LNG-fuelled con-ro vessels Kvitnos and Kvitbjorn, which are both equipped with cranes that can lift up to 80 tonnes enabling them to handle some project freight.
The ships will sail in 14-day loops, connecting Rotterdam and Eemshaven with Norwegian ports including Hammerfest, Sandnes/Tananger, Bergen, Trondheim, Ålesund, Bodo and Tromso.
In Rotterdam, the service will call at the SCA Logistics multipurpose terminal, which is set up to handle, ro-ro, breakbulk and containers.
Caesar Luikenaar, Samskip trade director Norway stated: "Nor Lines provides the only scheduled service offering ro-ro and heavy lift capacity to handle 80-tonnes loads that connects to ports north of Trondheim. We see major potential for growth in oil and gas project cargoes, breakbulk, and industrial rolling cargo consignments whilst also extending Samskip's commercial containerised network directly to the north of Norway."
