Once the chimney is in place, it will be 35 m in height and weigh 100 tonnes.

The operation was co-ordinated by Marmedsa Proyectos through Montañesa de Consignaciones, companies belonging to Marmedsa Noatum Maritime.

The port boasts two cranes capable of lifting 160 tonnes in tandem and the stevedore describes its terminal as "perfect to carry out such heavy cargo."

Victor Conde, general manager of Noatum Terminal Polivalente Santander, says: "This operation is in line with the strategy of diversification and growth which we have outlined for our multipurpose terminal. Santander Multipurpose Terminal as a model for both global and customised solutions".
