April 27 - UAE-based project forwarder TTS International successfully avoided making waves when it completed the transport of eight ferries for the RTA (Road & Transport Authority) in Dubai.
Each 35 m ferry weighed in at around 63 tonnes and the consignment was moved using a six-axle Nicolas 27m spreader bed from Jebel Ali port to the RTA's storage area for client Kanoo Shipping.
The company also kept its cool when it recently installed nine heat exchangers in a major Abu Dhabi project. Such was TTS' icy precision that the nine were installed in only six days at the Cleveland Clinic on Showa island, Abu Dhabi.
Each exchanger weighed 16.13 tonnes and measured 4.2 m in height and was offloaded from a lowbed trailer using an hydraulic gantry as height restrictions from a bridge prevented the use of a crane. During skidding, a 45 degree turn was required before sliding into location.
