October 10 - Work is progressing smoothly on Zeeland Seaports' extension of the quay at BOW Terminal, in the port of Vlissingen.
The existing 300 m quay is being extended by around 175 m.
The new quay will have a maximum load capacity of five tonnes per sq m, although a reinforced section will also be built, for a maximum load of 15 tonnes per sq m.
Ships with a draught of up to 10.5 m will be able to moor at the quay, which is expected to be completed by the middle of next year.
The Zeeland ports have a significant presence in the storage and handling of project cargo for the offshore industry.
