December 30 - According to reports in the Indian press, the country's shipping ministry has approved the construction of a new multipurpose cargo handling berth at Ennore Port.
The new berth will be built alongside the planned container terminal and will be operated on a public-private partnership agreement.
The quay will measure 270 m and will have an annual capacity of 2 million tonnes. The commodities that will be handled at the berth will include project and over-dimensional cargoes, as well as bulk and breakbulk freight.
