June 10 - Scheuerle has delivered a Highway Giant dual lane trailer to USA based Sterett Crane & Rigging with an integrated folding mechanism that allows the trailer to be transported in a folded state on flatbed trailers.
Due to its low tare weight, the Scheuerle Highway Giant dual lane trailer has been approved for use in most US states, as was specifically designed to fulfil the wide range of requirements found in the North American market.
The design not only accommodates the variable vehicle widths, but it is also possible to safely widen the vehicle under load.
Thanks to the folding technology, Scheuerle explained that the trailer can also be inexpensively transported over long distances when folded up - regardless of whether it is delivering cargo or returning from a transport assignment.
In order to achieve an optimum payload/tare weight ratio, the chassis is manufactured using a stable lightweight construction. A gooseneck or drawbar can be connected to the towing vehicle, while spacers or deck can be easily fitted, explained Scheuerle.
The Highway Giant also has hydraulic cylinders in the pendulum axles, which have the large displacement volumes that Scheuerle says facilitate driving under and picking up loads. The pendulum axle also assists manouevring when negotiating tight bends, explained the manufacturer.
