February -26- When Grande Ghana, Grimaldi Lines' new ConRo ship arrived in Hamburg on its maiden voyage, it marked the strengthening of the line's service between the German port and West Africa.
"Our recently commissioned ConRo ships will serve West African ports with greater frequency and we accept all types of cargo on all vessels serving West Africa," says Dirk Peters, a Grimaldi spokesman.
Grande Ghana, when loaded to full capacity, can carry 1360 teu and offers 2,500 lane metres of space for wheeled cargo.
In addition, heavy and over-dimensional project cargoes up to 200 tonnes can also be accommodated on deck, as well as general cargo.
The new ship is the second of a total of seven new ConRo vessels commissioned by Grimaldi and built at the Uljanik dockyard in Croatia.
