May 9 - The dry cargo vessel Neva-Leader 8 has been launched by the Nevsky Shipyard for North-Western Shipping Company (NWSC).
The Neva-Leader 8 features a 52 m long middle hold, which makes it possible to transport oversize and heavy lift cargoes from Europe to the Caspian Sea. The newbuild also meets the requirements of the Volga-Don Shipping Canal.
NWSC also posted a 8 percent loss year-on-year of freight transported in the first quarter of 2014 at 1.42 million tonnes.
30 percent of the total volume of cargo carried by NWSC in the first quarter of 2014 was transported onboard its ten 5,026 dwt Amethyst type vessels and seven 7,157 dwt Neva-Leader type vessels.
The company stated that its income from freight activity has grown by 40 percent year-on-year.
