October 6 - This year has seen repeated reports of an imminent resumption in the production of the An -124, the world's largest cargo jet with the Pentagon reportedly signing contracts for An-124 planes for military transport purposes for years to come.
Now comes news in the Russia media that the Beriyev Aviation Scientific-Technical Center in Taganrog jointly with the Zhukovsky Central Aerodynamics Institute outside Moscow is mapping out a project to create the world's most sophisticated cargo plane - the Be-2500 - which, say the reports, will boast a takeoff weight of 2,500 tonnes and maximum payload of 1,000 tonnes.
