July 20 - Brazilian heavy lift and project forwarder Megatranz Transportes has completed the international door-to-door transportation of two 473 tonne reactors and two 245 tonne columns for a leading Brazilian oil and gas project.
The movement included vertical mounting of the equipment.
The equipment was loaded at the ports of Yokohama, Japan and at Mai-liao, Taiwan and was shipped to Brazil on the inaugural sailing of the Beluga Houston.
It was discharged at the Brazilian Aratu naval base, Bahia before road transport using SPMTs to the petrochemical facility at Camaçari.
To facilitate the road movement, it was necessary to adjust and assess several road bridges along the 43 km route. Megatranz engineers worked with local officials for a year to prepare the route.
