February 17 - McTyre Trucking recently delivered a 213-tonne turbine generator skid from Mount Vernon to Bellaire in Ohio.
According to Johnny McTyre, vice president of McTyre Trucking, the skid was self-loaded onto a specialised trailer. The trailer was assembled around the cargo before using its hydraulics to lift the load to transport height.
"As one of the largest and heaviest loads to ever be permitted over Ohio roadways, the most challenging aspect was simply the size of the transporter and negotiating through, around, over, and under the numerous obstructions on route," McTyre explained.
In order to execute the shipment, McTyre also had to arrange route surveys, coordinate with local and state officials, secure permits, and organise civilian and law enforcement escorts to accompany the load.
