August 22 - On September 1, Manitowoc is to officially open its new training centre at the Manitowoc Crane Care facility in St Pierre de Chandieu, France.

Having moved from its base in Baudemont, the new training centre will add to the service and support activities available at the St Pierre de Chandieu facility, which opened on July 1.

The facility caters to the complete range of Manitowoc crawler cranes, Potain tower cranes and Grove mobile cranes.

Among its many operations, the new training centre will offer 55 different hands-on training modules, running from between two days and seven weeks.

Ghislaine Journay, manager of the training centre, says that Manitowoc expects to train more than 1,500 crane technicians per year at the facility.

"Our comprehensive training programs cover every area of crane use, and this new facility will allow us to deliver those courses in the best manner possible," said Journay.

Five training rooms are equipped with interactive equipment and the latest generation driving simulators, while a showroom displays over 30 operational tower crane mechanisms for training purposes.

The facility at St Pierre de Chandieu is one of ten Manitowoc training centres worldwide.
