Mammoet has been appointed as the exclusive heavy lift and heavy transport service supplier at the UK’s largest freeport, Steel River Quay.
The freeport – which lies at the heart of the Teesworks industrial zone in Teeside – is a 2,600-acre (1052-hectare) site located on the banks of the River Tees. Mammoet will be the exclusive contractor at the site for five years.
Involved in the contract is the supply of specialist field personnel, mobile cranes, crawler cranes and SPMT trailers, as well as Mammoet working closely with the Teesworks Skills Academy to train and upskill the local workforce using its in-company skills and training school, the Mammoet Academy.
Mammoet’s knowledge and experience in the offshore wind energy market – such as the Hywind Tampen project – will assist Steel River Quay in serving the UK’s fast-growing trajectory in the sector.
