April 12 - MACS Maritime Carrier Shipping has purchased the general cargo ship Diamond Land (previously called Calabria) through a group company.
The 35,000 dwt ship, capable of carrying both containerised and bulk cargo, has taken over from its sister vessel Solent, which is being redelivered to its owner.
Diamond Land's first voyage will take it from Antwerp via Leixoes (Portugal) to Walvis Bay, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban, where it will be phased into the GAL service from southern Africa to North America.
HLPFI understands that both Diamond Land and Solent were previously owned by F.H. Bertling Reederei.
