December 17 - MacGregor, part of Cargotec Corporation, has won a contract to deliver four 250-tonne heavy lift electric cranes to two 12,000 dwt multipurpose vessels for Danish liner operator, Nordana, as part of its fleet refurbishment plan.
The four variable frequency drive (VFD) electric cranes will meet the operator's need to accommodate the increasing demand for larger and heavier pieces of cargo, said Svante Lundberg, sales manager of MacGregor cargo cranes.
Electric cranes have faster and more accurate load positioning, which reduces the time spent in port as well as power consumption compared to electro-hydraulic cranes, explained Lundberg.
The cranes are scheduled for delivery during 2014 and 2015.
