January 7 - LV Shipping has coordinated the transport of one of the world's longest wind turbine blades from the USA to the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult's test facility in Blyth, UK.
Measuring 78.4 m long and weighing in at 30.3 tonnes, the blade was assembled at NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) in New Orleans, before being shipped to the UK for a six-month testing programme.
LV Shipping's offices in Houston, the Netherlands and the UK worked together to plan the transport, which involved loading the blade onto an oceangoing vessel in New Orleans for shipment to Antwerp, where the cargo was transferred onto a coaster vessel for delivery to the UK Port of Blyth.
