April 15 - India's MFC Transport has handled the transport of 13 over-dimensional consignments for BPCL's Kochi refinery in Kerala.

In order to provide maximum cost-effectiveness to its customers, MFC explained that it consolidated consignments from three major engineering companies.

The 13 consignments were transported by road from three different locations to two separate ports in Gujarat, before all being shipped to the Ernakulam Wharf at Cochin Port.

Once at the wharf, all 13 of the consignments were transported by barge to the BPCL Kochi job site - which MFC claims is the first time such a number of cargoes have been transported on a single barge at Ernakulam Wharf.

The company also says that this project was witness to the first time a 146-tonne cargo had crossed five bridges in the area, as well as the first time a consignment measuring 7 m wide by 7.7 m high had been transported on the route.
